Château de Garnerot
In the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, in Mercurey, stands Château de Garnerot, an estate that tells a story of passion, courage, and renewal. This is not a typical return to roots, but a new beginning envisioned by Alexia Russo and Caroline Fyot, who, after international careers in luxury and insurance, decided to leave those worlds behind to fulfill a childhood dream: creating a winery. After training in Beaune and gaining experience in the vineyards of Côte de Nuits and Côte Chalonnaise, their first vintage was born in 2018. They chose an 18th-century residence, already a venue for important wine-related events, to bring to life a project that combines tradition, authenticity, and hospitality. Château de Garnerot is not just a place of production but an invitation to discover the soul of Southern Burgundy.
At Château de Garnerot, six hectares of vineyards are divided between Côte Chalonnaise and Côte de Beaune, cultivated using organic methods (in conversion since 2022) and biodynamic practices on some parcels. Nothing is left to chance here: every choice respects the rhythms of nature, from the lunar calendar to pruning methods such as Guyot and Guyot Poussard. The soil is carefully studied and nourished precisely to give the wine the full richness of the terroir. In the cellar, the philosophy is the same: minimal intervention and maximum respect. Whites ferment in oak barrels after cold settling, while reds undergo gentle macerations and spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts. Each parcel produces a cuvée, each with its own unique voice.
The wines of Château de Garnerot tell the story of the region’s diversity: from the fresh Aligoté to the refined Mercurey Premier Cru, each bottle reflects the personality of its vineyard. Alongside their own production, the négociant activity of Chai Garnerot broadens the range, while maintaining the distinct identity of each wine.
