
Chardonnay Villa Russiz 2024
Das Chardonnay von Villa Russiz ist ein Weißwein von großer Frische und Leichtigkeit, hergestellt im Collio und ausschließlich in Stahl gereift. In der Nase erinnert es an Noten von Goldenäpfeln, gelbfleischigem Obst und leichten Erinnerungen an aromatische Kräuter. Am Gaumen hat es eine leichte und zarte Textur, die sich geschmeidig trinken lässt.
The Chardonnay from Villa Russiz originates in the territory of Collio Goriziano, that strip of land located between Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Slovenia, an area dedicated to the production of great and fragrant white wines. Back in 1868, Theodor de la Tour Voivrè initiated the tradition that is still carried on today for the cultivation of vineyards, also introducing typical French varieties. Today, production has significantly expanded, giving rise to a diversified range of products with unique characteristics.
The grapes of Chardonnay from Villa Russiz are located on the hills of Collio at about 350 meters above sea level. The climatic peculiarity is that there are significant temperature variations between day and night, a condition that allows the grapes to fully ripen, also thanks to the excellent sun exposure. The soil has a diversified composition, specifically having a good presence of minerals called "Flysh", sandstone, and marl layer; it is also worth noting the presence of calcium carbonate which makes the wines tasty and aromatic. After the manual harvest is completed, the whole grapes arrive in the winery where they undergo soft pressing; the obtained must is fermented in large tanks on the lees for 8 months. This is followed by bottling almost 10 months after the harvest.
The Chardonnay from Villa Russiz presents itself in the glass with a brilliant straw yellow; on the nose, hints of bread crust and yellow fruit such as Golden apple emerge. The palate is characterized by a good balance with fresh final notes. It pairs perfectly with fish dishes such as shellfish and mollusks, but also with white meat dishes; excellent also with fresh cheeses. An interesting product to enjoy chilled during summer lunches with lifelong friends or for family evenings to share a product with unique and particular characteristics.
