Orlando Abrigo

Orlando Abrigo winery is located in Treiso, a small village nestled among the hills overlooking Barbaresco. For generations, the Abrigo family has cultivated its own vineyards, passing down knowledge that has grown stronger over time. Today, the estate is led by Giovanni Abrigo, heir to a long-standing tradition, who has successfully combined respect for history with a modern and innovative vision. In 2013, a new winery was built, designed by architect Marco Ferreri as a space of technical and qualitative excellence. Today, the estate represents a synthesis of Langhe tradition and a contemporary approach to viticulture.

Orlando Abrigo now counts around 20 hectares of vineyards, with great attention devoted to the region’s native grape varieties. Nebbiolo, the undisputed protagonist of the great red wines and the soul of the estate’s crus, is joined by Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato, and Nascetta—varieties that reflect the richness of the Langhe. Work in the vineyard is based on targeted interventions along the rows, focused on soil preservation and enhancing the natural characteristics of the grapes. Key operations such as pruning and harvesting are carried out by hand, allowing for careful cluster selection, while the favorable hillside exposures encourage slow and complete ripening of the berries.

In the cellar, Orlando Abrigo favors an artisanal approach, with natural fermentations driven by indigenous yeasts. Skin macerations help achieve elegant tannins and intense aromas, while careful temperature management preserves freshness and structure. Some wines age in wooden casks to gain softness and depth, while others are kept in stainless steel to maintain vibrancy and varietal purity. It is a story of land and passion, where every bottle carries the soul of the hills of Treiso.
